Choir Conductor : Armelle DUTARTRE (Fr)
Armelle DUTARTRE was born in Saône et Loire. She discovered music, practicing the organ, the piano and the guitar. She studied at the Jean-Philippe Rameau Music school and at the Musicology University in Dijon where she obtained a Certificate of musical education and choral singing.
Since 1994, she continues her musical studies attending the singing classes of Agnès Robert, Christine Raphaël, Caroline Pozderec and the choir conducting classes of Géraldine Toutain, Christophe Mauvais, Adélaïde Stroesser and Bruno Rastier.
Today, she carries on lessons with Pasquale Mourey at the Departmental Music Academy of Auxerre, and she continues her choir conducting education, attending numerous “Study Tours” such as « Europa Cantat Nevers » and «les rencontres musicales de Vézelay ». Recently, she took part to the Choralies in Vaison-la-Romaine as assistant to the choir conductor Bruno Rastier.
A musical education teacher for the last 14 years, she has been conducting the music school youth and children choirs of Joigny. She also took an active part into the coordination of the Yonne Department college choirs’ meetings and now she manages an academic mission of cultural action: the development of repertoires for choral singing.
Since 2001, she conducts the « Ensemble Choral de Joigny ». It consists of about forty amateur choristers, all of which dedicated to the practice of the choral singing. A repertoire of varied musical styles has been approached along the way, allowing the members to get acquainted with works of different periods, a cappella or with accompaniment, such as « chansons de la renaissance », in French and in English, « la Passion selon St Jean » (J.S. Bach), « la Messe pour les Trépassés » (M.A. Charpentier), « le Requiem » (Mozart), « des Lieder » (J. Brahms), « Carmina Burana » (C. Orff), and more recently a « Chœurs d’opéra » program. The Ensemble occasionally performs in England together with the Godalming "Choral Society", a twin city of Joigny. The Choral Ensemble took also part for several years at the "Nuits Maillotines" (entertainment visits of the city of Joigny).
